Mobile Cinema booked into Hills Body Works, Exeter.

October 6, 2009 3:00 pmtoNovember 5, 2009 2:00 pm

We’ve agreed a deal with Hills Body Works of Marsh Barton, Exeter to do all the preparatory work for a full body respray, including re-skinning some aluminium panels and glass fibre repair to the cab, then of course the respray itself. By early November the cinema will be returned to its original white and blue colours, giving the whole restoration a massive lift.  Our attention will then move swiftly onto soundproofing the interior cinema space and installing some updated lighting.

Workshop update

The newly shaped and fitted support struts. Our big push towards the m.o.t test has moved a great deal closer this week with much of the preparatory work now completeted. The bulk of the work needed was carpentry and Hal has combined his efforts and skills with Jon to acheive a level of completion that puts us past most of the highly skilled tasks in hand, so what’s left is relatively simple work.

More photographs of the recent work can be seen in the M.O.T page in our ‘gallery’ section of the website. The series of photographs seen there take you through each stage of our recent developments, including the rebuild of a cab door, the rear corners of the body and an entire section of struts to support belly box doors and tin work.

Let the final mechanics work commence……..

July 6, 2009toJuly 28, 2009

With the registration document now safely in our hands we can invest our time and resources into making the cinema road legal. Surprisingly only a handful of jobs need completing to make the cinema mechacically sound, such as fitting the gearstick properly and housing the ignition battery in a secure place. All of the more daunting jobs such as the brakes, engine work and electrics were done nearly 2 years ago. Even more surprising was that about 90% of the electrics (including the internal 240v system) worked perfectly the first ime we gave them a power supply! Long live Bedfords and all things ‘built to last’.

Carpentry work

July 6, 2009toJuly 24, 2009

Carpenter booked in to undertke the restoration of the woodwork surrounding the belly box doors and to rebuild the cab doors.
