The 22 seat movie theatre is in the sound treated, fully upholstered and climate controlled rear of the vehicle, with carefully tiered seating to ensure everyone gets maximum viewing pleasure. All films are shown on the high definition (HD) digital projection unit, complete with Dolby 7:1 surround sound for the full cinema experience.
The cinema comes with staff to run all the technical aspects and who can facilitate audience management. All public liability insurance up to £5m is included as standard. We have over decade of events experience and can offer advice on how best to utilise the mobile cinema for your event.
This was one of seven units custom built for the British government in the late 1960s, used at the time to promote British industry. Sadly it looks like all other six have disappeared forever, leaving us with the only example of a quite stunning piece of British transport heritage. All efforts have been made to stay faithful to the original format in the restoration of the vehicle, with compromise only being made to benefit the audience and their safety. We are very grateful to Hills Body Works for their help and advice and the care they have taken over the immaculate restoration of the vehicle’s exterior.
We are based near Bicester so can access much of England and Wales very easily. With our haulage friends we can also make trips to the rest of the UK. Please feel free to contact us for a quotation.
“ Bravo to the team for putting the Vintage Mobile Cinema vehicle back into service! The meticulous restoration, which includes state-of-the-art digital projection and surround sound, preserves the last member of the historic British Ministry of Technology fleet. Nearly half a century later, vehicle KJU 267E’s mission has changed, but she will again bring thousands of hours of significant entertainment to an array of audiences.”

“The innovative tour that we undertook with VMC certainly captured the imagination of my company, not just in the UK but on a global level. If we could get the bus to our HQ in San Francisco they would want you there!!!”
