The Vintage Mobile Cinema company brings you a unique slice of cinema and automotive history, combined together to give the audience an exciting film viewing experience unavailable anywhere else.
The 20 seat movie theatre is in the soundproofed, fully upholstered and air conditioned rear of the vehicle, with carefully tiered seating to ensure everyone gets maximum viewing pleasure. All films are shown on the high quality digital projection unit, complete with surround sound for the full cinema experience.
This was one of seven units custom built for the British government in the late 1960’s, used at the time to promote British industry. Sadly it looks like all other six have disappeared forever, leaving us with the only example of a quite stunning piece of British transport heritage. All efforts have been made to stay faithful to the original format in the restoration of the vehicle, with compromise only being made to benefit the audience and their safety.
The mobile cinema is due for launch in spring 2010, when we start work on a local community project. We are based in the South West of England and are available for hire or collaboration and will consider working with anyone, anywhere. Please feel free to make contact.
